Chris Wake
Psychotherapist and Mediator
Chris is a psychotherapist and mediator with 15 years of experience in international development. He is passionate about helping people improve their lives through better relationships—with themselves and others.
As a therapist, Chris is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christians in Counselling (ACC). He provides counselling to individuals, couples, and families, using a blend of approaches to allow them to untangle their difficulties and manage them better. His experience includes working with clients in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Heart and Mind London, and private practice.
As a Registered Mediator with the Civil Mediation Council (CMC), Chris mediates for organisations, communities, and families. He creates safe spaces for hard conversations, helping people navigate conflict and rebuild relationships. He has worked in private practice and with Wandsworth Mediation Service in London.
In his previous career in international development, Chris specialised in peace building and governance in fragile and conflict-affected countries. He has worked for several NGOs and the UK Government, and lived in South Sudan, Rwanda, Afghanistan and South Africa.
Chris has a Master of Science in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Derby and a Master of Science in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He is a Systemic Practitioner at intermediate level with the Association for Family Therapy (AFT) and an accredited mediator with the London School of Mediation.
Chris is based in South Africa.
